The report stated that the representatives of both countries will meet as part of the efforts by the administration of US President Donald Trump to end the nearly four-year war between Kiev and Moscow.
White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, entrepreneur Jared Kushner (Trump’s son-in-law), and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held talks in Berlin on Sunday to reach an agreement on the conflict in the Slavic country.
Witkoff and Kushner visited Moscow on December 2 to debate with Russian President Vladimir Putin several issues, but primarily the conflict in Ukraine, focusing on a proposal promoted by the United States since mid-November.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Witkoff met in Florida with Zelensky’s envoys on November 30 to discuss a possible end to hostilities.
Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, to protect the population from “the Kiev government’s genocide,” according to President Vladimir Putin.
It also aims to counter national security risks posed by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)’s eastward expansion.
