“We are observing an escalation of tensions in the region, which we consider potentially very dangerous,” the spokesman declared this Thursday at his usual press briefing.
The high-ranking Kremlin official urged caution to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.
“We call on all countries in the region to exercise restraint to avoid an unpredictable development,” he said.
Peskov noted that Venezuela is “an ally, a partner” with whom Russia “maintains constant contact, particularly at the highest level.”
The United States continues its deployment of military forces near Venezuela and a campaign of attacks against vessels allegedly originating from this South American country and involved in drug trafficking.
It has also ordered the complete closure of airspace around Venezuela.
