“It is important that we have succeeded in ensuring the systematic implementation of the provisions of the historic treaty.
This has contributed to a significant expansion of productive bilateral cooperation in the political, economic-trade, humanitarian, and other spheres,” the president noted in a congratulatory telegram to DPRK leader Kim Jong Un.
The Russian president also described the heroic participation of Korean People’s Army troops in the liberation of the territory of the Russian Kursk region, and the subsequent demining work carried out by North Korean sappers on Russian soil, as a “visible confirmation of the unwavering friendship and brotherhood in combat” between the two countries.
Russia and North Korea signed a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty on June 19, 2024, during Putin’s official visit to Pyongyang.
The new document has no set duration and replaces a bilateral agreement on friendship, good neighborliness, and cooperation from 2000.
