The report forecasts that 1,424,000 non-resident foreign tourists will enter the country between December and February.
This forecast would make the current summer season the second best in history in terms of foreign arrivals (after 2017-2018).
These expectations are shared by authorities at the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) and the Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism (Camtur), who anticipate very high occupancy rates in the first weeks of the year, according to La Diaria.
“We believe the number of Argentinians and Brazilians should increase,” said Tourism Minister Pablo Menoni.
He pointed out that in the medium term, the most visited destinations by foreigners will be Montevideo, Punta del Este, and Colonia.
However, he emphasized that the promotional strategy has been designed “looking beyond the coast,” aiming to boost rural and nature tourism.
