El Salvador on track for improved security by 2025

San Salvador, Dec 29 (Prensa Latina) With three days left in 2025, El Salvador is maintaining its momentum in setting high standards for security and aiming to end the year with an impressive rate of one murder per 100,000 people.

As of December 27, there had been 23 days without any fatalities, just four shy of matching the 27 days recorded in August, the second-lowest month for crime, surpassed only by July with 29.

This would also put El Salvador on track to surpass 1,100 days without crimes attributable to gangs.

Official statistics from the National Civil Police (PNC), shared on their social media account, show that December 27 marked the 300th day in 2025 without any gang-related crimes.

Constant patrols by the National Civil Police and the Armed Forces have allowed the country to maintain a social environment free of violence.

El Salvador experienced two critical periods in its homicide rates within the context of its contemporary history.

The first significant peak was recorded in 1995, when it reached a rate of 141.72 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants.
