Workplace accidents in Uruguay report a drop

Montevideo, Dec 31 (Prensa Latina) Workplace accidents are ending the year with a downward trend, according to a report released by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS).

According to the ministerial report, 13 fatal workplace accidents were recorded during the first quarter of 2025, a figure that dropped to 11 in the second quarter.

In the third quarter, 12 deaths were recorded, while in the fourth quarter the number fell to five, the lowest figure of the year.

In this regard, the head of the MTSS, Juan Castillo, highlighted the launch in April of the National Commitment for Life, Health, and Safety at Work, an initiative to promote prevention.

The 2025 Workplace Accident Report details that all of the fatalities were men.

Regarding the main causes of fatal accidents, the report indicates that falls from heights continue to be the predominant factor, especially in sectors such as construction and industry.
