“At this moment, when the world order is changing, the United States might gain some short-term advantages, but in the long run, its imperial strategy is not going to work because people have understood that these are the frustrations of a declining empire,” the Indian journalist told Prensa Latina when questioned about the aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
The editor-in-chief of Open the Magazine pointed out that Washington’s illegal actions are predicted by its own history and foreign policy, since the interests of the political class are aligned with those of the super-rich and the corporations that want to exploit the world.
He noted that, in Washington’s equation, in addition to the ideological war against socialist governments in Latin America and the rest of the world, and for its primary oil interests, it is necessary to highlight the internal political pressures that President Donald Trump is facing.
“You know, there are many problems surrounding the Epstein sex scandal, the files, and there are also many economic problems in the United States,” the Indian journalist stated.
He pointed out that Americans, especially the unemployed people and poor whites are extremely dissatisfied with Trump for his failure to deliver on his campaign promises. There is too much inequality in the United States, and unemployment has risen.
Ulrekh exressed that the US president has unleashed this international aggression to divert attention from all these internal problems and that, to stay in power, he protects the interests of the super-rich and multinational corporations by helping them exploit resources around the world.
“That is his political project, and if you ask me what the main objective is, it’s damage control, simplifying things for multinational corporations as the empire declines. We all know that the dollar will not remain as powerful as it is now, and that the United States will face many economic problems in the future,” he emphasized.
