Panama and Chile boost trade

Panama City, Jan 7 (Prensa Latina) The governments of Panama and Chile have reportedly identified opportunities and sectors to boost trade.

A statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI) noted that Minister Julio Molto reached this conclusion after meeting with Chile’s Ambassador to Panama, Alejandro Sfeir.

They assessed the potential benefits for Panamanian producers and exporters within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in force between the two countries.

Molto reaffirmed, during the meeting, the commitment to continue working in a coordinated manner, strengthening the presence of Panamanian goods in the Chilean market under the “Made in Panama” quality seal.

The minister highlighted, among those sectors, more coffee, more agro-industrial products, and more value-added goods, because our goal is that these opportunities result in real exports for companies.

Ambassador Sfeir, in turn, reiterated his willingness to promote an agenda that facilitates trade, focused on simplifying procedures and accelerating the necessary coordination so that more Panamanian products can reach Santiago with clear rules, defined timelines, and competitive conditions.
