The agency specified that only those who have changed their place of residence or who have returned to the country permanently and whose national identity card was issued before 1988 and who are not yet on the electoral roll need to register.
It also clarified that those who register by today will be able to vote in the congressional and presidential elections, while those who register after today and until March 31, 2026, will only be able to exercise their right to vote in the presidential elections.
The agency also reminded the public that they can register at the National Registry offices, at strategic locations in capital and mid-sized cities such as shopping malls and other high-traffic areas, and through mobile voter registration campaigns at universities.
Residents abroad can register through a dedicated online platform and in person at Colombian consulates.
The legislative elections will be held on Sunday, March 8, and the presidential elections on May 31 for the first round, with a second round on June 21 if necessary.
