Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin is here to assume the presidency on behalf of his country.
The G77 presidency rotates on a regional basis each year, and this time it is Latin America and the Caribbean’s turn, with Uruguay serving as coordinator and spokesperson.
According to its official definition, the Group “provides the means so that countries of the Global South articulate and promote their collective economic interests and enhance their joint negotiating capacity.”
In particular, it addresses important international economic issues within the UN system and promotes South-South cooperation for development.
Foreign Minister Lubetkin stated that Uruguay will lead the group, focusing on challenges such as inequality, conflict resolution, climate crisis, and the defense of multilateralism.
