The tour will begin in La Paz, where Vieira will meet with Bolivian Foreign Minister Fernando Aramayo to review the priorities of the broad bilateral agenda, with an emphasis on security, energy, and infrastructure—areas considered strategic for both countries.
Later, the Brazilian Foreign Minister will accompany President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on an official visit to Panama, where the president will participate in the opening of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Forum and meet with his counterpart, Jose Raul Mulino.
On January 29, Vieira will travel to Peru, a nation with which Brazil has maintained a Strategic Alliance since 2003.
During his meeting with his Peruvian counterpart, Hugo de Zela, he will assess the state of bilateral relations, with a focus on trade, infrastructure, and combating transnational organized crime.
The visit to Lima comes after it was announced that Brazil has assumed representation of Mexico’s affairs in Peru following the rupture of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The trip will conclude on January 30 in Quito, where the Brazilian Foreign Minister will meet with Ecuador’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, Gabriela Sommerfeld. During this meeting, they will follow up on the agreements reached during President Daniel Noboa’s visit to Brasilia in August of last year.
