“Given that the country’s crude oil refining capacity only covers between two and three percent of current demand, the construction of an oil refinery with our assistance is highly relevant; the technical aspects,” the Russian diplomatic mission told the newspaper Izvestia.
In addition, Russia and Myanmar are exploring other areas of energy cooperation, including initiatives in small-scale hydropower, wind and solar energy, with the possible participation of the Russian state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom.
These projects are in their initial stages but have high development potential, the source added.
