In a message posted on the social network X, the president highlighted that the project, developed in Los Palacios, shows “the path toward self-sufficiency” in rice for Cuba.
Diaz-Canel reported that this approach generates import substitution, decent employment, income for families, and overall well-being.
He also announced an agreement to convert this hub into a training center for producers and to transfer the model to other provinces.
“Thanks Vietnam for its continued support,” the Cuban president concluded.
The alliance with the Vietnamese company Agri-VMA has allowed for yields of up to nine tons per hectare, a figure not achieved on the island for many years.
