Virtual exhibition to strengthen Cuba-Mexico cultural ties

Havana, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) – The San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts in Cuba announced an exhibition taking place on July 30 that will showcase renowned figures of Cuban culture from Mexico, aiming at strengthening ties within the sector.

The institution described the virtual initiative as an “aesthetic embrace” through portraiture, available to the public at Havana’s San Carlos Academy.

The aim of the artworks is to highlight and pay tribute to important artists and personalities who embody the soul of Cuban culture, the entity noted on its Facebook page.

This event, it added, represents a valuable gift uniting “the two oldest art academies in the Americas.”

Driven by the creative spirit, the exhibition “sets a symbolic course capable of transcending eras,” while the Aztec nation “welcomes the faces and essences of some of the most cherished icons of our national identity.”

According to the statement, San Carlos Academy—founded in 1781—is the sister institution of an art education project that envisioned expanding across the entire continent during the 19th century.

With this visual initiative, both countries reaffirm their commitment to culture, while strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and collaboration forged over the years.
