During a ministerial meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), held in the context of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA81), Rodriguez stated that the militarization of the region is being used as an instrument of domination under the pretext of the fight against terrorism.
“We denounce the unprecedented tightening of the United States blockade against Cuba, particularly the energy blockade, secondary sanctions, a vicious media campaign, and the threat of military aggression,” he concluded.
As part of his agenda in New York, Rodriguez participated in the National Meeting of Cubans Residing in the United States, where he highlighted the significant efforts made by the island to foster greater engagement and integration into national life for “compatriots residing or staying for extended periods outside Cuba, and their descendants.”
At the meeting, the foreign minister reiterated that the United States’ aggression on Cuba continues to intensify, as does “the collective punishment inflicted upon the Cuban people and the ruthless impact it is having on families and the general population.”
There is no way to justify such a cruel crime, he declared.
