Argentine capital will apply various measures for primary elections

Buenos Aires, Sep 3 (Prensa Latina) Nine days before the country's primary elections, this capital is getting ready for the first vote in times of Covid-19, with a series of sanitary measures seeking to prevent the spread of the SARS-CoV virus 2.

At a press conference, the head of the local government, Horacio Rodríguez, explained that in order to avoid the crowds, establishments where residents of the capital will be able to vote were expanded from 798 to 1030 at 8,500 tables.

After recommending voters to check the register site www.padron.gob.ar to find out the place assigned to vote, the official added that another measure is to allow adults over 70 years of age to directly access their table without standing in line, and queues will be made outside the schools, except in cases where there are courtyards.

Each polling station will have its sanitary instruments and all the spaces will be sanitized and ventilated, Rodríguez said. He asked citizens to bring their own material to sign the electoral registers and that the closure of envelopes be done the flap inside.

Mass tests for personnel carrying out the register inspection, 48 ​​hours before the elections, among other measures, will be applied in the capital for September 12, when the whole country will choose who will finally be on the ballot for the general elections of November.

In these mid-term elections, as they are also known, Argentinians with their vote will renew 24 seats in the Senate and 127 in the Chamber of Representatives, in addition to other public offices.
