The request for punishment of Bolsonaro covers five crimes such as leadership of an armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the rule of law, coup d’etat and causing damage qualified by violence.
In addition, serious threat against federal property, with considerable damage to the victim, and causing damage to a protected asset.
Along with Bolsonaro, the Attorney General’s Office requested the conviction of all members of the group.
They are the former ministers Augusto Heleno (Institutional Security Cabinet, Walter Braga Netto (Chief of Staff), Paulo Sergio Nogueira (Defense) and Anderson Torres (Justice).
Also, former Navy commander Almir Garnier, federal deputy Alexandre Ramagem and lieutenant colonel Mauro Cid, whistleblower and former aide to Bolsonaro’s orders.
Closing arguments were presented just before the deadline.
Attorney General Paulo Gonet had until 23:59, local time, on Monday to submit the document to the Supreme Federal Court.
The Attorney General’s Office cited Bolsonaro’s interview with the UOL portal in its closing arguments.
