(UHo) and the Centre Catals del Plastic (CCP) in Spain are consolidating a scientific alliance today focused on the development and characterization of materials under tropical climatic conditions. Cuban professor Angel Tomas Perez Rodriguez, a member of the UHo Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, is currently undertaking a collaborative residency at the European institution, which is located on the campus of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).
The joint research with UHo’s Materials and Environment Research Group prioritizes the study of Polyamide 6,6 to gather essential data for designing more resilient technologies.
This international cooperation—which builds upon a relationship established in 1998—directly contributes to integrating professionals from the Caribbean province into the dynamics of the circular economy, advanced polymer recycling, and material durability.
The alliance with the Catalan center is part of a UHo institutional strategy that maintains over 50 active projects aimed at meeting the demands of society, industry, and local governance regarding sustainable development.
