Haiti’s acting Prime Minister Alix Didier explained that it is more than 200 SWAT agents, trained and equipped by Washington, which should join the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMAS) in Haiti.
Kenya had planned to make the first rotation of its troops last June, but it never happened as announced.
Recently, Kenya warned that it may review its commitment to fight gangs in Haiti as the international community continues to fail to deliver on promises made to the African country. In this regard, Kenyan President William Ruto issued a warning to the United Nations (UN) Security Council.
Ruto expressed his concern over the stance adopted by the international community regarding the AMSM in Haiti led by his nation.
He pointed out the serious deficiencies in the support for this task, and denounced that of the 2,500 troops to be deployed, less than 40 percent are present in Haiti.
