Sri Lanka rejects continued US harassment of Cuba

Colombo, Jul 21 (Prensa Latina) Jeewantha Jayatissa, Secretary General of the Bolivarian Solidarity Group in Sri Lanka, rejected the United States' allocation of 75 million dollars to create a crisis in Cuba and overthrow the socialist State.

In a letter signed on behalf of his organization, Jayatissa condemned the use of public funds by the administration of President Donald Trump to impose sanctions on Cuba and use them for anti-Cuban activities.

He also noted that the US administration included Cuba on its State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list without any basis, and the Caribbean nation has earned respect around the world as a socialist country with a peaceful people.

Jayatissa also added that every year, UN member states ratify their support for the island in their votes against the US coercive measures, except for two or three countries aligned with Washington’s aggressive policy.

He remembered Cuba’s humanistic principles that guided the medical care of passengers on a British cruise ship during the Covid-19 pandemic, among many other examples.

Therefore, he emphasized, we condemn with indignation the prolonged attempt by the United States to block the rest of the world’s channels that seek to meet the needs of the Cuban people.
