Vietnam aims for zero dilapidated housing and more coastal roads

Hanoi, August 12 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam has removed nearly 80 percent of the country's existing temporary and dilapidated housing as part of a national program aimed at improving the quality of life of thousands of people.

According to information from the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, as of Tuesday, 27 of the nation’s 34 provinces and cities had completed this task, achieving a completion rate of 79.4 percent.

This is a significant step forward in the implementation of the national program, which not only contributes to improving the quality of life of hundreds of thousands of households, but also renews the image of rural and mountainous areas, where temporary and dilapidated housing abounds, the government-run online newspaper reported.

For his part, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for accelerated investment in the construction of the country’s coastal highway system, which currently has 1,397 kilometers completed and in use.

To date, the goal of having more than 1,000 kilometers of coastal highways nationwide by 2025 has been met and exceeded; however, the investment to complete the entire route is still not synchronized or fluid, so the overall effectiveness of regional connectivity is still limited, according to an Official Office of the Head of Government.

The document specifies that, according to the plan, the country’s coastal road network has a total length of approximately 2,838 km, comprised of a combination of national and local highways, of which 1,397 km have been completed and put into operation.

Meanwhile, more than 633 kilometers are under construction and more than 808 “have not received investment or are in the process of being invested.”
