Along with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, the Chinese Communist Party Politburo member will lead the twenty-fourth round of talks between special representatives on the border issue, according to a brief official statement.
The Chinese Foreign Minister will also hold a bilateral meeting with his counterpart Subrahmanyan Jaishankar, the statement highlights.
Sources at the Foreign Ministry recently highlighted the intentions of both parties to reestablish bilateral trade through three border crossings.
“We have maintained collaboration with China to facilitate the resumption of cross-border trade through all designated trade points,” Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.
Among these points, he mentioned the Lipulekh crossing in Uttarakhand, the Shipki La crossing in Himachal Pradesh, and the Nathu La crossing in Sikkim.
In October 2024, thanks to diplomatic and governmental efforts from both countries, India and China reached an agreement for patrolling their common border, which marked an important step forward in the restoration of bilateral relations.
