Silvio Rodriguez concludes successful performances in Chile (+Photo)

Santiago, Chile, Oct. 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodriguez will give the last of his four concerts in Chile, where he also visited Victor Jara Foundation and was received at La Moneda Palace by President Gabriel Boric.

This weekend, Silvio met with Amanda, daughter of Chilean musician Victor Jara, and spent time with staff at the cultural center dedicated to keeping alive the memory of the composer of renowned pieces.

The Cuban singer-songwriter was even able to hold the original guitar of the Chilean singer, a key figure in the protest song and a Communist Party activist assassinated by the Augusto Pinochet dictatorship in 1973.

In the first of his four performances at Movistar Arena, on September 29, Silvio Rodriguez paid tribute to Victor Jara and performed one of his most famous songs, “Te recuerdo Amanda,” which drew a standing ovation in the venue, which holds over 17,000 people. “It was a moving concert from beginning to end,” Chilean singer Cecilia Concha Laborde, who was fortunate enough to see it, told Prensa Latina.

“It’s always wonderful to return to Chile,” said the singer-songwriter, who first visited Chile in 1972 during Allende’s government and then returned in 1990, after the end of the dictatorship, when he gave a concert at the National Stadium in front of some 80,000 people.

Tonight’s guest artist will be Nano Stern.
