The Chinese leader emphasized that the friendship between China and Samoa has deep roots and noted that, in half a century of ties, both nations have maintained mutual respect, equality, and reciprocal support in defending their independence and sovereignty.
He stressed that bilateral political trust has strengthened, cooperation has yielded fruitful results, and cultural exchanges contribute to the well-being of the people of both countries.
He added that he attaches great importance to the development of relations with Samoa and expressed his willingness to work with Tuimalealiifano to seize the anniversary as an opportunity to deepen practical cooperation and expand the comprehensive strategic partnership.
For his part, Tuimalealiifano stated that bilateral ties have steadily progressed over the past 50 years and expressed his gratitude for China’s respect and support for Samoa’s sustainable economic and social development.
The head of state expressed his confidence that the friendship between the two peoples will continue to strengthen and contribute to a more prosperous and peaceful future.
China and Samoa established diplomatic relations in 1975.
Since then, the two countries have actively developed cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, education, and climate change mitigation, thereby consolidating their partnership within the framework of cooperation between China and Pacific Island States.
