Malaysia and Russia were the focus of the week’s agenda in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) The first official visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the deepening of bilateral cooperation with Russia in the agricultural sector marked the week in Ethiopia.

From November 18 to 20, Anwar Ibrahim completed a busy schedule in the capital, which included the first high-level business forum between the two countries, aimed at boosting trade relations and exploring new areas of collaboration.

Ethiopian President Taye Atske-Selassie, speaking at the meeting, stated that, although diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1965, the current, constantly evolving geoeconomic and geopolitical landscape demands deeper and more strategic collaboration.

Selassie emphasized the need to strengthen diplomatic ties through trade and investment, agriculture, livestock, mining, and other key areas for development.

In his view, the historic investment forum not only reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between Ethiopia and Malaysia, but also laid the foundation for a future characterized by greater economic collaboration, mutual understanding, and shared prosperity.

For his part, the Asian leader highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two nations and an alliance based on diplomatic cooperation and shared perspectives on global affairs.

He expressed deep appreciation for Ethiopia’s promising track record in reform and development, thanks to the realization of its enormous potential.
