The Sino Minister rejected a draft Pentagon report that attributes to the Asian nation the deployment of more than 100 intercontinental ballistic missiles in its three newest underground silos.
According to the spokesman, such claims are part of a common practice by Washington to justify accelerating the modernization of its nuclear arsenal.
He pointed out that these actions undermine global strategic stability and called on the international community to maintain a clear assessment of the situation.
He also stressed that the United States, as the country with the world’s largest nuclear arsenal, must fulfill its primary responsibility for nuclear disarmament through substantial and effective reductions.
Beijing recently published the white paper “China’s Arms Control, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation in the New Era,” which comprehensively outlines its nuclear policy and position on arms control.
The spokesperson pointed out that China remains committed to not being the first to use nuclear weapons, pursues a defensive nuclear strategy, and maintains its nuclear force at the minimum level necessary for its security.
