According to the Cuban Music Institute (ICM), the artist will perform at the Piano City Pordenone Festival and the Rive Gauche Jazz Festival in Rome, two important events that will confirm the merit of “one of the most interesting figures in contemporary Cuban music.”
Founder of Ernesto Oliva y La Aldea project, his work stands out for its constant search for new sonic languages, a process enriched by “his unique vision of contemporary music.”
Oliva, a graduate in Composition from the Higher Institute of the Arts (ISA), champions experimentation, cultural identity, and “a deep expressive sensitivity” in his work.
His creations have captivated diverse audiences in Cuba, Latin America, Europe, and the United States, venues where his work, which draws from the musical traditions of Cuba’s Guantanamo province and contemporary classical music, is particularly appealing.
The Cuban Institute of Music (ICM) highlighted the performer’s ability to give an original and powerfully communicative artistic experience, the result of a body of works that seamlessly blends jazz, Afro-Cuban roots, and concert music.
Recognition of his virtuosity is the 2026 Cubadisco Award for his album *De regreso a la aldea* (Returning to the Village), which won in the categories of Chamber Music, Musicological Notes, and Feature-Length Concert.
