Southeast was the most affected department (12 reported earthquakes), followed by Nippes (11), as well as Northwest and West departments (7), respectively.

Preptit said that Nippes, about 115 kilometers southwest of Haiti´s capital, was hit by a tiny seismic crisis on February 23, when it was the epicenter of four earthquakes with 3.3 and 4.2 magnitudes. However, seismological activity has already returned to normal.

In 2020 alone, the Mine and Energy Bureau reported 499 low-intensity earthquakes, ranging from one to 4.9 magnitude on Richter scale, mainly in the Southeast and Northeast departments.
