China’s global isolation due to zero tolerance to Covid-19 ruled out

Beijing, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) The Chinese press ruled out that the strategy of zero tolerance to Covid-19 will lead to the isolation of the country for years, citing the rise in foreign trade as evidence of the continuous exchange with the world.

The Global Times newspaper criticized international media outlets such as The Guardian, Bloomberg, The New York Times, Fortune and Financial Times for sowing doubts in this regard and seeding them with reports about alleged contradictions between scientists and government officials regarding the spread of the Delta strain.

As emphasized in an editorial, China remains active in the global sphere and this is demonstrated by its expanding commercial activity, advancing 24.5 percent in the last seven months.

Person-to-person exchanges declined worldwide since the beginning of the pandemic and stressed that regulating entry into the country, along with other methods, allowed it to avoid the loss of life and lead the economic recovery in the world.

As stated in the article, China can maintain its policy of ‘zero cases’ of Covid-19, and the development of various vaccines and the ability to mobilize and organize translate into well-being for its people.

Global Times indicated that these factors support China’s determination to host the 24th Winter Olympics and Paralympics in February 2022, leaving no room for an outbreak either in the population or in visiting delegations.

It also denied an alleged fear of the resumption of interactions with the rest of the world on China’s part, and assured that the accumulated experiences in the epidemiological field will help it to adapt to the ‘new normal’, control imported cases and protect the health of its citizens.
