Moscow asks Prague for details on the detention of Russian citizen

Moscow, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) Russia asked the Czech Republic for information on the causes and circumstances of the arrest, on Sunday, of Russian citizen Alexander Franchetti at the Prague airport, the spokesperson of the local Foreign Ministry, Maria Zajarova highlighted today.

The official explained that in conversation with the Czech ambassador in Moscow, Vitezslav Pivonka, Russia’s Foreign Ministry demanded details of the arrest on the basis of an international Interpol warrant issued by Ukraine.

In her commentary, published on Monday on the diplomatic service’s website, Zajarova noted that the Russian side drew attention to the hostility of Czech policy toward that nation.

She underscored that the continuation of Prague’s ‘destructive line’ toward Russia and its citizens will lead to further degradation of bilateral relations, which will not go without reaction from Moscow.

The spokesperson clarified that the Russian representation in the Czech capital sent a press release on the issue to the Czech Foreign Ministry, and expressed hope that they will be able to have a quick response to the questions raised.
