We congratulate the sister People’s Republic of China that celebrates today the 50th anniversary of the restitution of its legitimate rights as the sole representative of the Chinese people to the UN, wrote the top representative of Cuban diplomacy on Twitter.

Cuba is honored to have fought, along with other developing countries, for such representation, he added.

Rodriguez noted on that social network that the Asian nation represents a factor of balance and safeguard of world peace.

Likewise, he ratified Cuba’s coincidences with that country in the rejection of hegemonism, the use of force, double standards, politicization and stigmatization, and in the defense of the principles of International Law.

China was excluded from the UN as a result of a maneuver by the United States and other allied countries to diplomatically isolate Beijing; its reincorporation to that organization in the 1970s entailed the expulsion of Taiwan.

According to experts, China’s return to the UN system helped democratize the organization and promote multilateralism and the free right of peoples to self-determination. pgh/abo/mem/evm
