Syria hosts world basketball match in years

Damascus, Nov 30 (Prensa Latina) The Al-Fayhaa Sports City in Damascus on Tuesday hosted an international basketball match considered the first one since the war broke out in this nation more than 10 years ago.

The competition, which is part of the Asian basketball qualifying game towards the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, brought together the teams of Syria and Kazakhstan, and the latter won 81-71.

The next World Cup, to be hosted by the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia, will be held from August 25 to September 10, 2023.

Since March 2011, the world matches in the different sports disciplines stopped being held in Syria due to the war that was ravaging this nation.
