Russia describes Hungarian refusal to energy embargo as courageous

Moscow, May 6 (Prensa Latina) Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, on Friday described the refusal by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to support the energy embargo "as a courageous move for a mute Europe."

“Orban made a brave move. He refused to support the devastating energy embargo for his country’s economy and the crazy sanctions against religious figures, such as the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia and other Orthodox bishops proposed by the European Union,” the leader wrote on his Telegram channel.

Medvedev argued on the social media that “the most sensible leaders of the EU countries might have decided to stop heading quietly towards the precipice along with the whole sterilized European herd, which is being led to the slaughter by a US shepherd.”

Medvedev’s statements are supported by the assertions made by Orban who assured that Hungary and the EU as a whole are not ready to accept the proposal by the European Commission to introduce an embargo against Russian oil and gas imports.

He pointed out that such measures against Moscow require a major modernization of the alternative supply infrastructure, as well as a complete overhaul of Hungary’s crude oil refining capacities.
