U.S. activists to support Cuba’s recovery after Hurricane Ian

Washington, Sep 29 (Prensa Latina) American activists have available websites in the attempt to raise funds and aid Cuba in recovering after the passage of Hurricane Ian, which ravaged infrastructure, agriculture, telecommunications and power grid.

People’s Forum movement shared on Twitter a link that helps to receive donations and contribute to efforts.

“Help us send aid while Cuba recovers,” said the website, which also recognizes that Cuba has one of the lowest hurricane mortality rates in the region.

“While U.S. response to natural disasters is chaotic, disorganized and deadly (let´s think of Katrina or Maria), Cuba has spent years mastering a system and avoids tragedy even when storms are especially destructive,” the Forum tweeted.

Bridges of Love project is also organizing donations through webpage ¨ayudapacuba.com¨ and shipments through Zelle e-payment system to 425-442-8218.

Cuban-American Carlos Lazo stated they are using the platform coordinated by the U.S. organization Codepink to raise $70,000 for food, drugs and medical equipment.

“These are times to reach out to our people in the way we can and as fast as possible”, Carlos Lazo stressed.

Movements from other nations likewise reaffirmed their solidarity support to Cuba and also showed their willingness to contribute in any way possible.

Canadian Network of Solidarity with Cuba, from its official website, invites people to donate any amount to aid Cuba, affected by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for over six decades.

Cuba´s Foreign Trade and Investment Ministry (MINCEX) set up accounts for emergency donations to Cuba, through numbers 030000005336242 and 0407610081870041.
