India reduces HIV-AIDS infection rate by 46 percent

New Delhi, Dec 2 (Prensa Latina) India reduced the annual rate of HIV infection by 46 percent between 2010 and 2021, compared to the world average of 32 percent, the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) revealed.

AIDS-related mortality also fell 76 percent compared to the global average of 52 percent during the period, also according to NACO.

In a video message released during the World AIDS Day event in New Delhi on Thursday, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, said that people must adopt an inclusive and multisectoral approach in order to eliminate the chains of contagions.

The Special Secretary for Health and Family Welfare, S. Gopalkrishnan, and several dignitaries from the World Health Organization and the Joint United Nations Program on HIV and AIDS were present at the event.
