The agreement was signed during the 7th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) by Adrian Thomas, Grenada’s Minister of State responsible for Agriculture and Lands, Fisheries and Cooperatives, and Sabato Caesar, St. Vincent’s Minister of Agriculture.
The St. Vincent Times reported that the agreement will also help Grenada’s Artificial Insemination program by fostering a collaborative connection where both countries can be leaders in exporting animals to other countries.
“This deal will help establish a cocoa condiments and spices sub-sector in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as assistance for Grenada’s livestock and tuber sectors,” Sabato Caesar explained.
The alliance will also create a working partnership between technicians from both countries to reduce their food import costs, the newspaper added.
Present at the signing ceremony was OECS Director General Didacus Jules, who described the agreement as a multi-million dollar deal in terms of trade, livestock and expertise, the report noted.
