Arab League sends medical supplies to Sudan

Cairo, Jul 22 (Prensa Latina) The Arab League sent medical supplies to Sudan, which has been affected by a civil war between the Army and a rebel militia since April, displacing millions of people, the local press reported.

The MENA news agency reported that the aid was flown in on three Egyptian military cargo planes from Cairo to Port Sudan.

Sudanese authorities expressed their gratitude for the efforts made by the Arabs to overcome the difficulties facing Sudan, the source said.

Egypt sent earlier hundreds of tons of food and medicine to Sudan as humanitarian aid to alleviate the consequences of the fighting.

Since the clashes broke out in Sudan, the Egyptian authorities have been promoting an intense agenda of contacts with various regional and international actors to seek a peaceful solution.

Both the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed on several occasions that the conflict is an internal matter and therefore called for avoiding any interference in the situation in Sudan.
