AfD held a meeting on weekend to select its candidates for the regional elections in June 2024.
Politicians from other parties strongly criticized the AfD’s regional leader in Thuringia Björn Höcke´s statement, who said in an interview on the sidelines of the meeting that “the European Union (EU) must die so that the real Europe may live”.
Final AfD candidates were MEP Christine Anderson who in her speech called for the country’s immediate exit from the EU, and Alexander Jungbluth who shouted “Germany first” and railed against “multiculturalism.
