According to the national television station CCTV, the president arrived in this eastern city to participate in the inauguration of the Asian Games on Saturday, as well as in other activities.
Syria’s press office reported that the ruler will hold talks with the highest authorities of China with the objective of examining prospects for cooperation between the two sides.
Syria and China signed in January 2022 an agreement stipulating the incorporation of Damascus into the Belt and Road Initiative, proposed by Beijing in 2013.
In November 2021, during a telephone conversation, the two presidents ratified the will to boost cooperation and maintain mutual support for their national causes and also in international forums.
China used its right to veto in the Security Council in 2012 and 2017 against draft resolutions submitted by the United States and its allies against Syria.
The 19th Asian Games will be held from September 23 to October 8 in this city, where athletes from 45 countries and territories from Asia and the Middle East will coincide.
