Uruguay asks for extradition of repressor detained in Spain

Montevideo, Oct 24 (Prensa Latina) The Uruguayan judiciary requested on Tuesday the extradition of former military officer Daniel Maiorano who was detained in Spain and accused of human rights violations during the dictatorship.

Ricardo Perciballe, a prosecutor specializing in crimes against humanity, requested the extradition of the former lieutenant of the National Directorate of Naval Intelligence, who participated in Morgan Operation in 1975, which targeted members of the Uruguayan Communist Party.

Due to this operation, nine communist militants were arrested and disappeared, and dozens were imprisoned.
