Cubans in Venezuela rejected acts of hatred against their country

Caracas, Dec 15 (Prensa Latina) The Association of Cuban Men and Women Residents in Venezuela (Accreven) condemned and rejected all types of manifestations of hatred that lead today to acts of terrorism within Cuba, to create chaos, destabilize the Government and town.

“We will defend the achievements and conquests achieved by the Cuban Revolution,” said the solidarity movement in a statement that circulates here.

Accreven reiterated its commitment to the Cuban people, “to our Government, to defend our country in any scenario.”

The resistant Cubans in the Bolivarian Republic recalled in their message the “long emancipatory struggles” and the countless terrorist attacks against their nation since January 1, 1959.

Among them, they mentioned the mercenary invasion of Playa Giron (Bay of Pigs) in April 1961; the creation of rebel groups in the mountains who murdered peasants, young teachers; and sabotage of strategic sectors of the economy.

The Association pointed out that the arsenal of terrorist actions used against Cuba “is wide and varied” and recalled the mid-flight explosion of a Cubana de Aviación plane on October 6, 1976, in which 76 people lost their lives.

They also recalled the attacks on hotel facilities on the island in 1997, in which the young Italian Fabio di Celmo lost his life, in addition to causing significant damage to hotels’ infrastructure.

Accreven also alluded to terrorist actions aimed at damaging the health of the Cuban people, such as that suffered in 1981 with the dengue and hemorrhagic dengue fever epidemic, which caused the death of 101 children and 57 adults, and the epidemic outbreak of hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, event that affected the entire country.

With the arrival of US President Donald Trump (2017-2021), he stressed, the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States for more than 60 years was tightened.

He stressed that this criminal policy “goes against the Charter of the United Nations” and they considered it illegal by violating the international legal framework, attacking the sovereignty and integrity of the Cuban people and constituting “another form of State terrorism.”

The National Board of Directors of Accreven denounced that “unscrupulous anti-Cuban groups, in close ties with the Miami mafia”, and protected and financed by the US Government, take advantage of the current situation on the island “to organize and incite violence and disobedience”.

The men and women in solidarity with their country of origin stated they were children of the “historical legacy of titans” such as the national Apostle José Martí, Antonio Maceo, and “our undefeated and invincible Commander in Chief Fidel Castro,” and concluded with the Guevarian phrase: “if the present is about struggle, the future is ours.”
