King of Bhutan congratulates Cuba on Revolution anniversary

Timbu, Jan 8 (Prensa Latina) King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, reportedly sent a warm message of congratulations to Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.

According to the Cuban Embassy in Bhutan, His Majesty conveyed greetings on behalf of his government and people.

The King highlighted the traditional ties of friendship and goodwill that join the two nations.

Cuba and Bhutan will celebrate the 13th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024, strengthened by friendship, cooperation, and dialogue.

The relations between the two countries have their fundamental moment in the meeting between the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and then King of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, in Havana in 1979, during the 6th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit.

Cuba modestly contributed to Bhutan’s social development by providing scholarships for medical studies.

Bhutan has always expressed its support for Cuba for the lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
