Frente Amplio maintains advantage according to electoral survey

Montevideo, Jan 19 (Prensa Latina) The party, "Frente Amplio" (FA) of Uruguay, continues to lead the preference in voting intentions, according to the Citizen Perception survey, ahead of next October's elections.

According to the research, the FA has a 10-point advantage over all the parties in the government coalition.

Frente Amplio obtained a voting intention of 46 percent, far from the 28 per cent of the ruling National Party. The Colorado Party and Cabildo Abierto are way back, having received barely five percent and one percent, respectively.

The left-wing party has remained at the forefront in voting intentions for months, but one of its presidential candidates, Yamandú Orsi, warned two days ago that the electoral contest will be a close one.

In October 2019, the FA won the first round of the presidential vote and to elect legislators to the Parliament. However, in the runoff vote, the current president, Luis Lacalle Pou, and the coalition of parties that accompany his administration to this day prevailed.
