Cuban residents in Europe to meet in Madrid

Madrid, Mar 14 (Prensa Latina) The Meeting of Cuban Residents in Europe (ECRE) will be held in Madrid from May 17 to 19 to strengthen ties with their country of origin.

The Federation of Associations of Cuban Residents in Spain (FACRE) stressed in a press release that the event will give continuity to the Fourth “Nation and Emigration” Conference, held in Havana in November 2023.

According to the press release, the European associations of Cubans will discuss the restrictions that still exist to establish relations with Cuba and contribute to its development, especially the effects of the United States blockade against Cuba and the coercive measures of economic suffocation.

Among the issues on debate will be Cuba’s permanence in the State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list, according to Washington’s view and decision.

Assessments on culture and identity, social communication and support campaigns, and donations to the Cuban people will also be on the meeting’s agenda.

Regional strategies for preserving Marti’s thought and Fidel Castro’s historic legacy, especially his close ties with emigres, will be outlined, according to the press release.

The participation of Cuban residents abroad in the country’s socioeconomic development calls for an exchange based on new opportunities to participate and boost its economy, the text stated.
