“As a result of the adventurous actions of one or two NATO member states, the situation in Ukraine may transcend its borders and reach a completely different scale,” Grushko said in an interview with the Sputnik news agency.
According to the diplomat, French President Emmanuel Macron’s statements about the possible sending of troops to Ukraine “show the willingness to follow the path of escalation as the West suffers a strategic defeat on the battlefields.”
At the end of last February, the president of France stated that he had discussed with the leaders of some NATO member countries, including Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland and the United Kingdom, the possible sending of soldiers to Ukrainian territory, but no consensus was achieved.
Several member states of the bloc such as Germany, Bulgaria, Canada, Spain, the United States, Finland, Poland and the Czech Republic distanced themselves from Macron and refused to send their troops to Ukraine.
Moscow stated that some countries in the bloc had sensibly assessed the potential danger posed by the plan presented by Macron.
On Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that it has new information that France is preparing a military contingent of about 1,500 troops to send to Ukraine.
