DR announces test of digital equipment to be used in coming elections

Santo Domingo, Apr 8 (Prensa Latina) The first evaluation of the digital equipment to be used in the May 19 elections in the Dominican Republic will take place on April 13, as confirmed on Monday by the Central Electoral Board (JCE).

The JCE specified that it will check the operation of the scanning, typing, printing and data transmission equipment (EDET).

The test will be conducted in as many as 1,700 polling stations located in 50 municipalities of the 32 provinces.

The process will involve IT supervisors and support technicians, presidents of polling stations, members of election security, those responsible for electoral counting and other people closely related to next month’s presidential and congressional elections.

The test will also allow to check the roll-out of logistics system applied to the voting kits and the training of technicians, as well as to examine the information transmission, among other aspects.
