Printing of ballots for May elections begins in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo, Apr 10 (Prensa Latina) The Central Electoral Board (JCE) of the Dominican Republic began the printing of more than 25 million ballots to be used for the presidential and congressional elections of next May 19.

Román Jáquez Liranzo, president of the JCE, indicated that there are 25,458,668 ballots to be printed for the election of the president, vice-president, 32 senators, 190 deputies (national and foreign) and 40 deputies to the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) until 2028.

Liranzo said that in this phase of the assembly of the ballots, the political delegates, technicians, and alternates accredited before the electoral body will have an intense day of work together with the JCE team.

He stated that the process began with the printing of the ballots for the presidential and deputy levels abroad because they must be sent and distributed in the 23 Logistics Coordination Offices abroad.

On this subject, last week Mario Núñez, National Director of Elections, indicated that the logistics to be used abroad must be ready before to guarantee the sending of the material with sufficient time, at the latest on the 28th of this month.
