Poland rules out plans to occupy territories in Ukraine

Warsaw, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) Poland has no plans to occupy western Ukrainian regions, Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said on Thursday during a Sejm (Parliament) session.

Volin, former Eastern Galicia, and Lvov are also part of Ukraine, Sikorsky stated in the Ukrainian language, alluding to territories that at some point in history were part of this European nation, local television informed. In this way, the head of Polish diplomacy seemed to address Russian politicians who, according to him, are lying about alleged Warsaw plans to recover or annex those territories.

In December 2023, Sergey Naryshkin, head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, revealed that the Polish political elite had no plans to abandon attempts to control the western Ukrainian territories.

Naryshkin predicted that Warsaw would comply with Brussels’ intentions of a peaceful political and economic assimilation of those regions.

Poland is one of the European nations that have advocated for an anti-Russian policy and the rearmament of Ukraine, whose country has received more than 380 billion dollars in military and economic aid from Western powers, media reported in this city.
