Without mentioning the violations detected, the FGE indicated that these reports have been received mainly by telephone and through the institution’s website.

In a tour of the Don Bosco Technical Institute in this capital, Prensa Latina learned of a case of a ballot marked in advance of its delivery and others that were missing one of the signatures that support their legality.

In this regard, the Director of Electoral Organization, Osman Valdés, asked voters to demand two signatures on the ballot, in case these do not appear, and urged that citizens be the first watchers.

“The population is the first to control and ask that the ballots have both signatures. Check if they have both signatures,” he explained.

Valdés also explained that if the ballot does not have any signature, there is also the option of validating it with the polling station members, as long as the vote is not shown.

For this Sunday’s elections, the Electoral Tribunal established three thousand 37 voting centers enabled for three million four thousand 83 Panamanians with the right to this democratic exercise.

During these general elections, in addition to electing the next president of the Republic, Panamanians will elect 81 mayors, 71 deputies to the National Assembly, 701 representatives, 11 councilors and 20 deputies to the Central American Parliament.

At 10:00 local time, the attendance of 14.37 percent of the electorate (about 431,778 votes) was reported, even without counting the voters in the western province of Chiriquí, which had great weight in this consultation.

For the head of the observer mission of the Organization of American States, former Argentine Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra, participation is really active and it is appreciated that people do it with great enthusiasm and joy.
