On its social networks, the group ratified its solidarity with the Cuban people and government and described the US administration’s decision as a clear intention to intensify the blockade against Cuba, intimidate foreign investors and sabotage the nation’s well-being.
The text condemns what it described as hostile and arrogant acts by the government of President Donald Trump, and disavowed the disinformation campaigns that attempt to justify the punitive measures.
The solidarity group called on the international community to denounce the offensive against Cuba and demanded the immediate lifting of this abusive policy, while reaffirming its conviction that the Cuban people and their government will overcome the difficulties arising from these measures in the defense of their dignity, sovereignty and the achievements of the Revolution.
As part of the Caribbean Community, Belize has for many years maintained a clear position of condemnation of the blockade, from both government institutions and the broad solidarity movement made up of students, artists, health workers and a broad spectrum of the local political sector.
